33 DEAD, 22 INJURED IN SERIOUS ROAD ACCIDENT IN ALGERIA
ALGIERS,–A total of 33 people were killed and 22 others injured Friday night in a tragic road accident on a trunk road in the province in Laghouat, said the provincial Director of Civil Protection Colonel Djamel Khemar.
The accident occurred at around 2.00 a.m. at the level of the trunk road n°23 in the province of Laghouat, between the sub- prefectures of Aflou and Oued Mera in the locality called Idjder, leaving 33 dead and 22 injured, colonel Djamel Khemar told APS.
The accident was due to a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a passenger bus, coming from Oran to Ouargla, he said, adding that 30 peoples died carbonized.
All the victims were evacuated to the hospital of Aflou by the Civil Protection which mobilized at least 15 ambulances and seven lorries, said the official.
