4.7 MAGNITUE QUAKE HITS ALGERIA’S MASILA PROVINCE, NO REPORT OF CASUALTIES
ALGIERS, — A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit the Beni Ilmane area of the Algerian province of M’sila on Saturday night but has not caused “any human or material damage”, the Civil Defence Department says.
“No casualty or property damage was reported following the quake which hit on Saturday evening at about 9.43 pm local time at the town of Beni Ilmane,” department spokesman Colonel Farouk Achour said Sunday.
The quake’s epicentre was located 9.0 kilometres northwest of Beni Ilmane, in the northwestern part of M’sila Province.
Col. Achour said the the town’s inhabitants had panicked but there was no casualty.
