ALGIERS, — Algerian police arrested three suspects involved in a rocket-attack in March that targetted a gas plant in the desert area of In-Salah, 700 km in south of Algiers, APS news agency reported on Friday, quoting a judicial source.
According to China’s Xinhua news agency, the source said the gas plant was targetted by two homemade rockets, which left no casualties or material damage.
In-Salah gas plant consists of seven fields that are jointly operated by the state-run Sonatrach, BP and Statoil.
On Jan 16, 2013, a group of 32 militants from Mali took hundreds of employees as hostage in Tiguentourine gas field in In-Amenas, near Libyan border.
Three days later, a counter-terrorism unit launched an operation to free the hostages. Some 40 foreign employees and 29 militants were killed, as more than 800 employees were freed.
