ALGERIA, AZERBAIJAN DISCUSS ENERGY PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
ALGIERS, March 1 (NNN-APS) — Algerian Energy Minister Noureddine Boutarfa has held talks here with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Algeria, Meher Aliyev, with whom he discussed energy investment and partnership opportunities between the two countries.
The Ministry of Energy said in a statement issued after Tuesday’s meeting that they also discussed the evolution of oil markets and co-operation among members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC oil producers.
Azerbaijan is among the 11 non-OPEC oil and gas producing countries which committed to reducing their oil output by about 558,000 barrels a day, in accordance with the historic agreement reached with OPEC in Vienna last December.
OPEC and non-OPEC producers have lowered production by 1.8 million barrels a day since January, with a view to restoring balance in the world oil market to check the slide in oil prices. –
