ALGIERS, — Algeria is looking to benefit from the experience of Malaysia, which is known for the quality of teaching in its universities, says Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Tahar Hadjar.

“Malaysia is a country which is known for the quality of teaching provided in universities and we are seeking to benefit from this experience and ink an agreement in this regard,” Hadjar told journalists here Sunday after a meeting with his visiting Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Haji Idris bin Jusoh .

Hadjar, noting that Malaysia possessed “quality and approval instance” in the sector of High Education, announced that Algeria’s ambitions were to create an identical instance so as to raise the level of teaching in this country.

Indeed, Algerian experts and rectors would visit Malaysia to learn from this experience, he said, adding that conventions and co-operation agreements would be signed between universities of both countries.

Hadjar also announced an exchange of scholarships between Algerian and Malaysian students from 2017. He also disclosed that 44 Algerian teachers were currently in Malaysia to prepare their PhD thesis.

The Malaysian Higher Education Minister said his working visit to Algeria would enable the two countries to expand exchanges between their institutions of higher learning.
