ALGERIA-NIGER JOINT BORDER COMMITEE MEETS MONDAY IN TAMANRASSET
TAMANRASSET, — The Algeria-Niger Bilateral Border Committee will hold its sixth ordinary session in the southern Algerian city of Tamanrasset, about 1,970 kilometres south of Algiers, on Monday.
The local authorities in Tamanrasset Province said here Sunday that the two-day meeting would consist of two workshops, the first to address issues related to security and the movement of people and goods, and the second to focus on co-operation in the socio-economic, cultural and scientific fields.
The meeting will be attended by civilian and military officials and representatives of some executive directorates from the Algerian side, as well as their Nigerien counterparts, including the governors of Agadez and Tahoua, the chairman of the Agadez Regional Council and members of the diplomatic corps, in addition to officials in charge of sectors of activities in nothern Nigerien regions bordering Algeria.
A final communique is expected to be issued at the conclusion of the session. The fifth session of Algeria-Niger Bilateral Border Committee took place in Niamey, Niger, in late July 2016.
