ALGERIA RECORDS 15.8 BLN USD TRADE DEFICIT FOR JAN-0CT PERIOD
ALGIERS, — Algeria recorded a trade deficit of 15.8 billion US dollars in the first ten months of 2016, compared with a deficit of 13.7 billion USD for the same period of 2015, an increase of 14.75 per cent, according to the Algerian Customs service.
Exports during the 10 months fell to 22.74 billion from 29.7 billion USD in the same period of 2015, a drop of nearly 7.0 billion USD or 23.44 per cent, data provided by the Algerian Customs’ National Centre of Data Processing and Statistics (CNIS) showed.
Imports also fell, bu tat a slower pace compared with exports, to 38.54 billion USD from 43.46 billion USD during the previous corresponding period, for a drop of nearly 4.96 billion USD, or 11.34 per cent.
Hydrocarbon exports, which represented 93.75 per cent of total value of Algerian exports, fell to 21.32 billion USD from 28.08 billion USD previously, a drop of 6.76 billion USD, or 24.07 per cent.
