ALGERIA REPORTS DROP IN IMPORTED FOOD PRICES FOR JAN-JULY 2016

ALGIERS,-- Prices of the majority of imported foodstuffs in Algeria dropped during the first seven months of 2016, compared with the same period in 2015, the Ministry of Trade has reported.

Among raw materials intended for the food-processing industry, the price of hard wheat fell to 322 US dollars per tonne, a drop of 31.63 per cent compared with the first seven months of 2015 while the price of soft wheat fell 26 per cent to 192 USD per tonne and that of maize fell 10.3 per cent to 183 USD per tonne.

The import price of milk powder stood at 2,319 USD per tonne, a drop of -21.34 per cent.

Prices of edible oil, roasted coffee, infant milk formula and tea showed price and tea recorded increases.
