ALGERIA SEEKS TO HAVE SCHOOLS RUN ON RENEWABLE ENERGY

ALGIERS, The Algerian government is seeking to equip all primary schools with renewable energy in the next three years, says Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Noureddine Bedoui.

We seek to provide primary schools countrywide with renewable energy equipment, he said Wednesday when inaugurating a school powered by solar energy in the province of Relizane, about 300 kilometres southwest of here.

Bedoui stressed the need to rationalize energy consumption and stated that 500 primary schools nationwide were already equipped with solar energy.

He also emphasized Algeria’s willingness to use renewable energy at middle and high schools as well as other public buildings.

Bedoui said the government has taken the necessary measures to ensure a successful back-to-school season under the implementation of the recommendations of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

“All projects for the next academic year in the education, vocational training and higher education sectors are progressing well,” said Bedoui.
