ALGIERS, Oct 27 (NNN-APS) — Officials of AlgALGIERS– Officials of Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) have signed an agreement for the establishment of a regional office of the organization in Algiers which will cover its activities in the Maghreb.

The agreement was signed here Wednesday by the Director-General for Protocol at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Lounes Magramane, and AOAD Director-General Tarek Ben Moussa Al-Zadjali.

Through this regional office, the organization will contribute to the programmes of the member countries relating to the agricultural development and food safety, said Al-Zadjali.

“The office will cover the Maghreb region and consequently its programmes will be more specific and will deal with issues common to this region, including climate and management of production.”

In 1970, Arab countries agreed to create an organization focusing on agricultural development whose headquarters is in Khartoum.
