ALGERIAN ARMY DELEGATION ATTENDING SAHEL-SAHARAN MEETING
ALGIERS, — A delegation from Algeria’s People’s National Army (ANP) has left for Bamako, Mali, to attend a meeting of Army Chiefs of Staff of member States of the Joint Operational Army Staff Committee (CEMOC) to assess the security situation in the Sahel-Saharan sub-region.
The Ministry of National Defence said in a statement here Thursday that at the invitation of Major-General Mahamane Toure, Chief of Staff of the Malian Army and current president of the Chiefs of Staff of member States of the Joint Operational Army Staffs Committee, a meeting of the committee was held Thursday in Bamako.
The Algerian delegation to the meeting was led by Major-General Zerrad Cherif, head of personnel of the Chiefs of Staff of the ANP, as the representative of Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah, the Deputy Minister for National Defence and Chief of Staff of the ANP.
The statement added that the military officials attending the meeting studied and assessed the security situation in the Sahel-Saharan sub-region, exchanged analyses and experiences and feedback since the latest meeting of the Committee held on Sept 16 in Tamanrasset, Algeria.
