ALGERIAN ENERGY MINISTER HEADS FOR TEHRAN SATURDAY FOR CONSULTATIONS
ALGIERS, -- Algerian Energy Minister Noureddine Boutarfa heads for Tehran Saturday for consultations with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.
A statement issued by the Energy Ministry here Thursday said the visit was part of the "consultation and co-ordination among the member States of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to achieve a consensus at the next ministerial meeting, scheduled for 30 November in Vienna, Austria, on the methods for the implementation of the Algiers agreement to stabilize oil markets".
Boutarfa had received Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih for consultations here earlier this week and the two ministers expressed optimism about the prospects for a just, balanced and fair agreement on oil production during the next OPEC meeting in Vienna.
In this regard, Boutarfa said then that preparations for the OPEC meeting are being held in a "constructive and co-operative spirit".
The Saudi minister recalled that the "Algiers agreement had changed oil markets and had improved relations among OPEC member States by bridging views and reaching an agreement, whose implementation is a necessity today".
