ALGERIAN FINANCE MINISTER IN VIENNA FOR OPEC INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT FUND MEETING

ALGIERS,– Algerian Finance Minister Abderrahmane Benkhalfa has left for Vienna, Austria, to attend the 37th session of the Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), which begins on Thursday.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Benkhalfa will meet with his counterparts of other member States of the Organizaton of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to discuss the current global economic and financial situation, the Finance Ministry said in a statement here Wednesday.

OFID recently adopted “an ambitious strategic plan, whose main lines symbolize the spirit of solidarity of oil-producing countries with developing countries”, added the statement.

The meeting coincides with the 40th anniversary of OFID, whose establishment was decided at the first summit of OPEC, held in Algiers in 1975.

The OFID, which comprises all OPEC member states, aims to strengthen South-South co-operation.
