ALGERIAN FM HOLDS TALKS WITH COUNTERPART FROM NIGER
ALGIERS, — Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Ramtane Lamamra has held talks here with Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Co-operation, African Integration and Nigeriens Abroad, Ibrahim Yacoubou.
In a media statement issued after Tuesday’s meeting here, the Nigerien minister said relations between his country and Algeria were very good and that they would be further strengthened and improved following his visit.
Yacoubou said he discussed with Lamamra several issues, especially geopolitical and security issues, which would be examined in depth during his visit.
The Nigerien minister underlined “the excellent security co-operation between the two countries,” and hailed Algeria’s expertise in the field.
Tacoubou also called on Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and the two sides assessed bilateral relations and ways to boost ties.
The two officials also tackled the latest development in Africa, notably in the sub-region, and particularly those relating to security.
The meeting was also attended by Lamamra and Algerian Minister of Maghreb, African Union (AU) and Arab League Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
