ORAN, TheAlgerian national hydrocarbon corporation, Sonatrach has signed three agreements here with the Italian energy group ENI.

The agreements were signed here Tuesday on the sidelines of the 11th Sonatrach Scientific and Technical Conference (JST 11) by Sonatrach Chief Executive Officer Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour and his counterpart from ENI, Claudio Descalzi.

The first agreement is for the construction of gas pipeline linking two production units in Berkine Basin, in the south of the country — Lajmat Bir Roud (BRL) and Menzel Lejmat Est (MLE). This will facilitate the production of more than 7.0 million standard cubic metres of gas a day.

The laying of the gas pipeline will be carried out by a subsidiary of Sonatrach this year and it commissioning is expected in 2020.

The second agreement provides for co-operation between the two energy companies on synergy and principle of negotiations by experts from the two sides. The two oil companies will work jointly to reduce the costs of various works of maintenance and others matters with the aim of reducing costs by more than 50 million US dollars in total annually.

The last agreement concerns Research and Development as part of the partnership between the two sides, notably in the field of renewable energy.
