ALGIERS, April 13 (NNN-APS) — Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal has received the Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Workneh Gebeyehu, who is on working visit to Algeria.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Wednesday’s meeting enabled the two sides to assess the state of bilateral relations in all fields, notably the political aspect and that relating to economic co-operation.

Welcoming the quality of political relations between the two countries and which remains marked by a long tradition of dialogue and consultations, the Prime Minister expressed the hope to strengthen the economic co-operation.

At the international level, and after broaching issues of common interest relating the development of some issues, the meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on the political and security situation in the sub-region, the statement added.

Also present was Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Ramtane Lamamra and the Ethiopian ministers of trade and of livestock and fisheries.

Earlier, speaking upon arrival in Algiers, Workneh said relations between Algeria and Ethiopia are “strategic and efficient”, notably in the political field.

Apart from neighboring countries, “Algeria is one of the countries with which we have strategic relations”, he added. “Our bilateral relations in the political field are extremely efficient and we have a lot to do in the economic realm.”

He said his visit to Algeria would be an occasion to raise these relations “to a higher level”.

The Ethiopian minister was met on arrival at Houari-Boumedienne International Airport by Lamamra.
