ALGERIAN, RUSSIAN ENERGY MINISTERS TO MEET IN MOSCOW MONDAY
ALGIERS, — Algerian Energy Minister Nuoreddine Boutarfa leaves for Moscow Monday to meet with his Russian counterpart, Alexander Novak, as part of his consultations with members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as well as non-OPEC member nations ahead of key meeting of the oil cartel in vienna later this week,
The Energy Ministry said in a statement issued here Sunday that Boutarfa would be accompanied by Venezuela’s Oil Minister, Eulogio del Pino. After stopping in Moscow, Boutarfa will head for Vienna where he will hold discussions with his Iraqi, Saudi and Qatari counterparts ahead of the OPEC meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
On Saturday, the Algerian minister met Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Tehran. After their meeting, Boutarfa and Zanganeh said that they had “very positive” discussions and expressed confidence about the outcome of the next OPEC meeting.
Algeria has made every effort for the adoption of las tt September’s Algiers Agreement on oil production during the forthcoming OPEC meeting. To that end, Boutarfa started negotiations with OPEC member states and non-OPEC oil producers with a view to reaching a just and balanced agreement for the implementation of Algiers Agreement. —
