ALGERIA’S SONATRACH ANNOUNCES 28 HYDROCARBON DISCOVERIES IN FIRST NINE MONTHS
ALGIERS, — Algerian national oil company Sonatrach says it has made 28 hydrocarbon discoveries in the first three quarters of 2016, mainly in Hassi Messaoud and Berkine in the country’s south.
“Sonatrach, as part of its exploration activities, has announced it made 28 hydrocarbon finds up to Sept 30,” the group said in a statement here Monday.
All of the discoveries, three of which are still under assessment, have been achieved “through its own efforts”, the national oil company noted.
The total volume of hydrocarbons discovered through the 25 finds is estimated at 177.47 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) proven and probable (2P), and 401.37 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) proven, probable and possible (3P).
