CUBA AND ALGERIA STRENGTHEN COOPERATIVE TIES

HAVANA,--Cuba and Algeria signed here today nine agreements for cooperation in the fields of biotechnology and higher education, as part of the official visit of Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal to Cuba.

In the field of educational exchanges, the two countries signed agreements to boost institutional cooperation between universities and schools of technical education.

Regarding the Cuban-Algerian cooperation in the field of biotechnology, two memorandums of understanding were signed between the Pasteur Institute of Algeria and Cuban Institute Finlay of Vaccines, as well as a letter of intention between the aforementioned Algerian institution and the National Center for the Production of Laboratory Animals, from Cuba.

The Industrial Pharmaceutical Group Imgsa and the import-export company Farmacuba also signed two letters of intention for collaboration in the pharmaceutical field and for the implementation of a commercial project.

The signing of these agreements shows the willingness of the two countries to strengthen economic relations and cooperation, based on the use of their potential and capabilities.
