ETHIOPIAN GOVT INAUGURATES NEW EMBASSY BUILDING IN ALGIERS
ALGIERS, April 14 (NNN-APS) — The Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Ramtane Lamamra, and the visiting Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Workneh Gebeyehu, have officially inaugurated the new building of the Ethiopian Embassy in Algiers.
During Thursday’s ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps and other guests, Lamamra said the absence of an Ethiopian Embassy in Algeria had not been an obstacle for rapprochement between the two countries, while recalling the existence of an Algerian diplomatic representation in Addis Ababa for more than 40 years.
Describing relations between the two countries as very exceptional, he said Algeria, along with Ethiopia, are a driving force of development in Africa.
He added that he had the privilege of taking part a year ago in the discussions between the Heads of State of both countries in which they decided, in addition to the issue of opening the embassy, to make the partnership between the two countries an example to follow at the continental level.
While describing the new diplomatic representation of his country as historic for relations between the two countries, Workneh stressed that Ethiopia attaches great importance to the strategic and long-standing relations with Algeria and recalled the strategic partnership linking the two sides since 2013. –
