ORAN, ALGERIA April 3 (NNN-APS) — Algeria’s first international textile and design fair, Textile Expo, has opened Sunday in this northwestern city with the participation of national and foreign exhibitors.

Forty Algerian public and private companies and 80 exhibitors from Tunisia, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, China, India and the United States are taking part in the expo which opened Sunday, the organizers said.

The Governor of Oran, Abdelghani Zaalane, recalled that the textile sector is one of the fields advocated by the Investment Code and the efforts being made by the authorities to revive this activity.

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Mines and Oran Province, the fair aims to showcase the national products as well as provide an opportunity for the exchange of experiences between Algerian manufacturers and their foreign counterparts on the development of the textile industry and discover foreign know-how in the field of textile, leather and fashion.

The expo programme includes conferences for experts on innovation in the field of textiles, technological solutions in the fields of textile, leather and clothes, the latest in fashion, as well as partnership and complementarity between Algeria and Tunisia in the fields of textile, clothes, emerging businesses and innovations in the sector. — NNN-APS
