MESSAHEL TO REPRESENT ALGERIA AT ARAB LEAGURE FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING
ALGIERS, — The Algerian Minister of African Union (AU), Maghreb and Arab League affairs, Abdelkader Messahel, will travel to Mauritania to attend Monday’s Foreign Ministers’ preparatory meeting for the 27th Arab League Summit.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement here Thursday that the meeting would focus on issues to be placed on the Summit agenda, especially those relating to recent developments of the Palestinian cause and the situation in some Arab countries, namely Libya, Syria and Yemen.
Other issues to be discussed at the meeting would include the fight against terrorism and the development of the League’s functioning in order to allow it to effectively meet Arab peoples’ aspirations in a context marked by many challenges, which requires Arab countries to co-ordinate efforts to face them, the statement added.
