MESSAHEL TO REPRESENT ALGERIAN PRESIDENT AT TICAD VI IN NAIROBI
ALGIERS, — Minister of Maghreb, African Union (AU) and Arab League Affairs Abdelkader Messahel will represent Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) summit to be held in Nairobi, Kenya this weekend.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement here Wednesday that the theme of the summit is “Advancing the Agenda of Africa’s Sustainable Development: TICAD, a Partnership for Prosperity”.
In addition to a review of the progress made in the implementation of the Yokohama action plan adopted at TICAD V in 2013, the discussions in Nairobi on Saturday and Sunday will focus on themes of industrialization, health and social stability, the statement added.
The Nairobi Summit takes place as Africa, “under the double impetus of the NEPAD and the African Union’s 2063 Agenda strives to create the necessary conditions for its development thanks to a better cooperation with its various partners”, said the communique.
Messahel will also represent the president of the Republic at the 25th Summit of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) of the African Union to be held on Friday in the Kenyan capital.
