NAVY COMMANDERS INSPECTS ALGERIAN TRAINING SHIP ON ITS RETURN FROM FIVE-WEEK TRAINING VOYAGE

ALGIERS, Algerian Navy commander Major-General Haouli Mohamed Larbi inspected the naval training vessel, El-Mellah, on its return here Sunday after completing its training voyage which began on June 30, the National Defence Ministry says.

Major-General Haouli Mohamed Larbi, Commander of the Naval Forces, on Sunday inspected the sailing training vessel El-Mellah, at the port of Algiers, after its return from the Summer-2018 training campaign, which took place from June 30 to Aug 5, 2018,” a Ministry statemen said.

“Ninety-nine officer cadets from the Naval College of Tamentfoust (1st Military Region), including a woman cadet, took part in the training.

“The circuit of the Summer-2018 training cruise, which lasted 35 days, including 20 days of navigation in the Western Mediterranean Basin and the Tyrrhenian Sea, was carried out in six stages with several calls at national and foreign ports. During these port calls, the staff made courtesy visits to the civil and military authorities. Moreover, the students participated in sports and cultural activities.

“Through direct contact with the maritime environment, the officer cadets could acclimatize to real sailing conditions and life on board. This training campaign also allowed them to learn about navigation under different climatic conditions.
