NIGER WELCOMES ALGERIA’S EFFORTS TO BRING PEACE TO NEIGHBOURING STATES
ALGIERS, — Niger’s Minister of State and Minister of Interior, Public Security, Decentralization and Customary and Religious Affairs, Mohamed Bazoum, has welcomed the efforts of Algeria for the restoration of security and stability in its neighbouring countries and also its experience in the fight against terrorism.
A statement issued after the visiting Bazoum called on the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of the Algerian parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah, here Monday quoted him as saying that he welcomed Algeria’s constant efforts for the restoration of security and stability in neighbouring countries.
He also stressed Niger’s intention to benefit from the Algerian experience in the fight against extremism and terrorism, the statement added.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues concerning relations between the two countries as well as the level of co-ordination between them in the fight against terrorism and organized crime at the regional level.
The statement said Bensalah briefed the Nigerien minister on the Algerian experience in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, highlighting the different stages, including the policies of civil concord and national reconciliation initiated by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika for the restoration of security.
