PARLIAMENT SPEAKER SAYS INDONESIA WORKING TO STRENGTHEN TIES WITH ALGERIA

ALGIERS, — The Speaker of Indonesia’S People’s Consultative Assembly (parliament), Zulkifli Hasan, has affirmed that his country is working on strengthening its “historic ties” with Algeria.

Speaking on arrival at the Houari Boumediene Airport here Tuesday where he was welcomed by the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of the Algerian Parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah, he added that Indonesia and Algeria were united by “deep historic ties” and underlined that his three-day visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations at the parliamentary and governmental levels.

He said the visit would enable him to inject a new impetus to the brotherly relations between the two countries through the intensification of economic co-operation and cultural exchanges.

Bensalah said the visit of the Indonesian official to Algeria was aimed at “strengthening the bilateral relations and ties between the two countries’ parliaments”.
