Salam, Jordanian Minister discuss ties
Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, welcomed Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, Rida Khawaldeh, at the Grand Serail on Thursday, with whom he tackled relations between the two countries.
"We held a lengthy meeting during which we discussed affairs related to joint cooperation in the various agricultural sectors. Afterwards, we joined the technical committee which dwelt on the means to sustain agriculture and farmers in both Lebanon and Jordan," Khawaldeh told reporters following the meeting, stressing on the tribulations caused by the war next door.
Minister Akram Shehayyeb, who attended the visit, indicated that both sides decided to organize previous agreements, especially those advantageous to farmers. "This includes," Shehayyeb explained, "the organization of exportation and importation between Lebanon and Jordan (...) and launching new markets."
Salam later met with the Chairman of the American University of Beirut (AUB), Dr. Fadli Khoury.
He also received Lebanon's Ambassador to Algeria, Ghassan Moallem.
