THREE TERRORISTS SURRENDER TO ALGERIAN AUTHORITIES, DEFENCE MINISTRY SAYS

ALGIERS, -- Three terrorists have surrendered to the Algerian security authorities in Adrar, in north-central Algeria, handing over weapons and a quantity of ammunition, the Ministry of National Defence says.

"As part of the fight against terrorism and owing to the efforts of the forces of the People's National Army and security services, three terrorists surrendered, on Aug 3, 2016, to the security authorities of the operational area of Adrar (in the 3rd Military Region), handing over two Kalashnikov sub-machine guns, an MAS machine gun, a quantity of ammunition and two mobile phones," the Ministry added in a statement here Thursday.

Meanwhile, in Skikda in the 5th Military Region, an Army detachment discovered and destroyed a shelter for terrorists and two homemade cannons, added the statement.

In addition, as part of the fight against organized crime, Army detachments arrested 14 smugglers in Tamanrasset and Bordj Badji Mokhtar in Algeria's 6th Military Region and seized two all-terrain vehicles and 21 metal detectors, said the statement.

"In Biskra in the 4th Military Region, another Army detachment arrested a smuggler and seized a truck loaded with a quantity of different household electrical appliances," it added.
