Turkey Europe’s 3rd biggest gas importer

Turkey ranked third following Germany and Italy among European countries in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) and natural gas through pipelines last year.

According to the “BP World Energy Statics Report,” the global natural gas trade reached 704 billion cubic meters last year, with a nearly 4 percent increase compared to the previous year.

The report shows that Turkey purchased a large amount of LNG and natural gas from Russia and Algeria. Germany, Italy and Turkey imported 104 billion, 50 billion and 39.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas through pipelines, respectively, last year.
