23rd GCC History and Antiquities Association Forum Kicks off in Saudi Arabia

The 23rd GCC History and Antiquities Association Forum kicked off Wednesday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The Forum is hosted by the Saudi Heritage Commission in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Foundation, with the participation of 300 researchers in the fields of history and antiquities.

The first day of the Forum featured 19 scientific papers distributed over three discussion sessions, which addressed several axes in the history of the GCC countries and their cultural heritage in prehistoric and successive eras, up to the history of the Islamic eras.

The sessions also included axes concerned with the history of the modern and contemporary eras of the Gulf region, in addition to discussing the most prominent issues related to the history of the Arabian Peninsula.

The Forum aims to develop scientific thought in the field of history and antiquities, by providing opportunities to present and discuss specialized scientific research; to contribute to the development of heritage work methods, in addition t
o exchanging scientific production and practical experiences between the relevant institutions in the member states.
