Agreement to provide solar power plants for Huila, Namibe

Abu Dhabi – Angolan provinces of Huíla and Namibe will benefit in the short term from the construction of four solar energy parks.

In order to ensure the implementation of the project, the Angolan government signed an agreement with Masdar company on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Angolan head of State João Lourenço attended the ceremony to sign the deal, whose the investment project is expected to generate about two gigawatts of solar energy.

The minister of Energy and Water João Baptista Borge told the journalists that the construction of these parks is part of the country’s strategy to achieve energy security.

Modernisation of Unicarga

In the transportation sector, Angola and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) strengthened their partnership, with the signing of terms of engagement between Unicargas and Abu Dhabi Ports.

Still in the transportation sector, a Framework Agreement was signed with Abu Dhabi Ports to exchange information in the areas between the two entities.

At the end of the ceremony, the Angolan minister of Transport, Ricardo Abreu, underlined the fact that Abu Dhabi Ports is also the regulator and supervisor of maritime and port activities.

He also said that the agreement has several components, having highlighted the construction of a maritime terminal and the training of staff.

Angola and the United Arab Emirates have cooperation ties in sectors such as oil and gas, trade, investment, energy, defence, transport, agriculture, fishing, banking, telecommunications and finance.
