Al Nasr Underlines Qatar’s Role at UN

Doha, November 26 (QNA) -HE Nasser Abdel Aziz Al Nasr, the high commissioner for  the Alliance of Civilizations
and former UN General Assembly president has underlined the growing role of Qatar among the international community and its active membership at the UN which it joined in 1971.
    Speaking at a lecture attended by HE the Minister of State For Foreign Affairs, Dr Khalid Bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, officials and diplomats at the Diplomatic Club in Doha , Qatar’s veteran diplomat cited Qatar’s energetic contribution to the groups of the South at the UN , including Group 77 and China which it headed in 2004 and Qatar’s hosting of the Second South Summit in 2005.
   He said that Qatar , as acknowledged by the UN has become an example for the pillars of development, attributing its growing status to the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Al Nasr said that such a leadership is characterized by a strategic far-sightendness, investment in human resources and helping citizens prepare for confronting present and future challenges.(QNA)
