ALGIERS, Algeria will repatriate home all its nationals who are in Germany illegally, whatever their number, says Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia following talks here with visiting German Chancellor Angala Merkel.

“Algeria will have its children back, whether they are 3,000 or 5,000,” told a joint media conference after Monday’s meeting with Merkel, who arrived earlier in the for an official visit. “This operation will be conducted in full compliance with the rules agreed with the German authorities.”

Merkel was received by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Also present at the meeting were Ouyahia, Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Nourredine Bedoui, and Minister of Industry and Mining Youcef Yousfi.

The German chancellor was welcomed upon her arrival in Houari-Boumediene International Airport here by Ouyahia, and members of the government. The visit, part of the high-level bilateral consultations, is due to give a boost to the relations of friendship and co-operation between Algeria and Germany, the presidency said in a statement.

Relations between the two countries have significantly developed in all fields, as shown by the numerous visits exchanged between the two top officials of both countries. The meeting will be a new opportunity for the two sides to continue, at the highest level, the consultations and reflections started long ago on promotion of a bilateral political dialogue.

It will also pave the way for an important bilateral economic and commercial partnership, to expand and deepen in the future.
