ALGIERS, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel on Friday begins a two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh, the Foreign Affairs Ministry says.

Messahel will deliver a message from Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to his Vietnamese counterpart, President Tran Dai Quang during the visit, the ministry said in a statement here Thursday.

This visit, which is part of the high-level tradition of consultations between the two countries, will be an opportunity to review the state of the bilateral co-operation, notably in the economic, commercial and investment fields, and to explore ways to further strengthen ties, the ministry added.

Messahel will assess with his Vietnamese counterpart co-operation between the two countries in the wake of the holding of the 11th meeting of their Bilateral Joint Committee in Algeria in November last year.

This visit will also enable the two ministers to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, added the ministry.
