ALGIERS, Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel will make an official visit to China on Wednesday and Thursday at the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry here Sunday.

While in China, Messahel will convey a message from President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to his Chinese counterpart, Presient Xi Jinping. Messahel’s visit to China coincides with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the visit, the two parties will examine ways to further reinforce relations between Algeria and China, and deepen consultations and assessments of the regional and international issues of common interest, the statemwent added.

Messahel will also lead the Algerian delegation to the 8th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Co-operation Forum, to be held in Beijing on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Messahel has lauded the excellent relations between Algeria and China, adding that the 60th anniversary of their establishment will be an opportunity to reiterate the two countries’ constant attachment to further consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2014.

In an interview with China’sXinhua News Agency on Saturday, Messahel said the anniversary holds “noble and profound meanings, reflecting the solidity of links between the two friendly countries and peoples”.

Messahel also welcomed the accelerated growth that has marked the Algerian-Chinese relations in recent years, noting that China has maintained it position as Algeria’s top trading partner with an annual average total of two-way trade exceeding 8.0 billion US dollars.
