ALGERIAN-INDIAN J-V TRACTOR ASSEMBLY PLANT SET TO BEGIN PRODUCTION

ALGIERS, The Algerian-Indian joint venture Mahindra agricultural tractors assembly plant located in the park of Oued Aissi industrial Park in Tizi-Ouzou, some 100 kilometres east of here, is all ready to go into production.

The plant’s chief executive officer, Lahlou Azouaou, told APS: “We only need authorization from the relevant authorities to import raw materials required by to become operational.

“The plant has a production capacity of 3,000 tractors per year, with a manufacturing chain for the production of accompanying materials which has a capacity of 2,700 units a year.”

The plant cost more than 2.5 billion dinars (about 21 million US dollars) to build.
