ALGIERS, — Minister of Industry and Mines Abdesselam Bouchouareb will represent Algeria at the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) which begins Tuesday in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The Ministry of Industry and Mines said in a statement here Monday that Bouchouareb would be addressing the plenary opening session of the three-day forum which is being held under the theme “Decentralizing growth, empowering future business”.

The forum will see the participation of several Heads of State and Government as well as leaders of some of the world’s biggest corporations. A total of some 2,500 participants from more than 100 countries will be attending the meeting.

The 12th edition of the WIEF will deal with topics related to Islamic financing and its role in the financing of infrastructure development in Muslim countries, the promotion of halal products in the food-processing sector, fashion and tourism as well as the role of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) as the driving force in world economic growth and their synergies with the large economic enterprises.
