Algiers-Rome: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to make official visit to Algeria

Accompanied by a large delegation, the visit is announced for January 22 and 23. Bilateral agreements should be signed, as happened in the last visit by Mario Draghi in July 2022. Algeria, Italy’s top natural gas supplier, is preparing for the visit in order to deliver a number of investment projects in various areas, including energy, agriculture and spare parts industries. The aim is to consolidate relations between Italy and African countries, with a “non-predatory but collaborative posture,” said G. Meloni. The Italian far-right PM should also address the issue of illegal immigration.
