Syria’s representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam El-Din Aala, called for enhancing international support for humanitarian programs, early recovery and reconstruction programs in Syria without selectivity or politicization, stressing the necessity of lifting the Western coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, as they are responsible for the living and economic difficulties and they preventing Syrian refugees and the displaced from returning their home.

‘This conference is being held in extremely sensitive and delicate circumstances that our region and the world are going through, as confronting the escalating trend of waves of displacement, asylum and migration that the world has witnessed over the decades requires addressing the root factors that lead to it, and supporting national efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment that facilitates the return of refugees and displaced to their countries and areas of origin,’ Ambassador Ala said in a statement on Wednesd
ay before the second regional review conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in the Arab Region.

He regretted that today’s world is still governed by policies and practices that constitute major factors for irregular migration and displacement, by provoking wars and crises and investing in the human suffering of the displaced and refugees.

The Syrian diplomat said that the return of Syrian refugees and displaced to their homeland and their share to recovery and reconstruction efforts represents a fundamental goal for Syria, which has made great efforts in this field, by working to restore security and stability to the country, and following the approach of local settlements and reconciliations and take measures and facilities that would contribute to providing an environment conducive to the dignified return of Syrians.
