Five Children Killed in Traffic Collision in South Africa

Five children were killed and 20 others were injured in a collision between a train and a school bus in South Africa.

The South African Ministry of Transport said in a statement that the accident occurred near the village of Mafubi, adjacent to the city of Middelburg, about 180 km northeast of Johannesburg.

A tragic accident at a railway crossing involving a train and a bus, which resulted in the death of five children and the injury of 20 others, the government said in a statement, adding that the cause of the accident was not immediately clear and investigations are still ongoing.

Last July 12 children were killed when a small school bus overturned and caught fire after being hit by another car near Johannesburg.
