ON GOING EFFORTS TO INCREASE CEREAL PRODUCTION A STRATEGIC CHOICE FOR ALGERIA

TAMANRASSET, ALGERIA, Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Abdelkader Bouazghi, has stressed that the ongoing efforts to boost cereal production is a “strategic choice” for Algeria.

“Algeria has adopted a strategic choice by stepping up efforts to increase cereal production and improve grain quality using all available means,” said the Minister during his supervision of the current grain harvest-threshing campaign at Mahmoudi-Fethi farm in the commune of Foggaret-Ezzoua in In-Salah town in central Algeria,

In this regard, Bouazghi said the government, in line with the directives of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, was committed to supporting any initiative or project by young people nationwide, especially in the field of agriculture in the country’s south.

The minister added that the region of Tidikelt (In-Salah) had all potentialities for the development of cereal farming with its fertile soil and abundant water, in addition to the State’s support for farmers, especially those in the country’s south.

Bouazghi urged young beneficiaries of agricultural lands to draw on the successful experience of Mahmoudi-Fethi farm.
