Qatar Chairs 5th Extraordinary Meeting for GCC Industry Undersecretaries

The State of Qatar chaired the fifth extraordinary meeting of the Undersecretaries of Ministries of Industry of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which was held today in Doha.

The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies, the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Industry of the GCC countries, and HE Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi, who is the Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the General Secretariat of the GCC.

In his opening speech, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki who chaired the meeting, welcomed the distinguished undersecretaries to Qatar. He noted that this meeting continues efforts to enhance joint Gulf cooperation, particularly in establishing a unified definition of the Gulf national product and its standards.

HE Al Malki emphasized that enhancing the mechanism for applying these standards is an important step towards achieving Gulf economic citizenship and strengthening cooperation between member stat
es to achieve common goals and ambitions. He added that this will contribute to the development of various Gulf economic sectors, especially the industrial sector. He also said that reaching a united view on the standards defining the Gulf national product and adopting mechanisms to implement them will open new horizons for supporting joint Gulf work. This initiative is in line with the directives of the leaders of the GCC countries to strengthen Gulf economic and industrial infrastructure to achieve economic integration and sustainable development.

During the meeting, the report on the mechanism for applying the standards defining the Gulf national product was discussed, and recommendations were adopted to achieve the shared objectives.
