Security Council Approves Resolution to Extend UNIFIL’s Mission in Lebanon for Extra Year

The Security Council on Thursday passed a resolution that extends UN peacekeepers’ mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for another year.

The resolution was approved with 13 votes in favor and zero objection. Russia and China abstained.

The resolution calls on all parties to ensure that UNIFIL’s freedom of movement is respected in all its operations and its access to the Blue Line separating Lebanon and the Israeli entity is not obstructed.
