SPANISH F.M. BEGINS WORKING VISIT TO ALGERIA THURSDAY

ALGIERS, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Co-operation, Josep Borrell Fontelles, arrives in Algiers Thursday for a working visit to Algeria at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Abdelkader Messahel.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement here Wednesday: “At the invitation of Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel, Josep Borrell Fontelles, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Co-operation, will pay a working visit to Algeria on 6 September 2018.”

The visit is being made in continuation and deepening of political dialogue and consultation between the two countries and as an extension of the 7th bilateral High-Level Meeting which took place in Algiers on April 3, this year, the statement said.

During the visit, the two sides will assess the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, mainly economic co-operation and trade, and discuss major regional and international issues of common interest, including the situation in Libya, in Mali and in the Sahel, as well as the situation relating to Western Sahara, the future of Euro-Mediterranean co-operation, Euro-African relations as well as the situation in the Middle East, the statement said.
