Gaza – Ma’an – In the lobby of the vaccination center at Al-Amal Hospital, affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, thousands of children in Khan Younis line up waiting for a dose of the polio vaccine, like flowers blooming after a storm. These children are making up for the days of Eid and joy they missed, or even the school days they were deprived of.
With their beautiful and tidy clothes, the moment seems as if it is the first day back to school, as they line up in the morning line, with their bright uniforms and excited faces.
Since the early morning hours, the medical staff of the Red Crescent Society receives the children with open hearts and smiles full of tenderness. The children stand reassured in organized queues, excited to start their journey towards a better healthy life. In their beautiful clothes, the scene turns into a small celebration, as the vaccination experience becomes a special and exceptional moment that combines care and hope.
Red Crescent succeeds in vaccinating more
than 10 thousand children
The medical and administrative teams of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society were able to vaccinate more than 10,000 children on the first day of the national vaccination campaign, in a day that was considered historic.
Vaccination operations took place in Al Amal Hospital, Al Quds Field Hospital, and Al Nuss Camp, in addition to the movement of special medical teams of doctors and nurses to several camps to ensure the provision of care for children unable to attend vaccination centers.
Children may not fully understand the purpose of those little drops placed in their mouths, but they carry in their little hearts a deep belief that they will protect them from diseases and epidemics that threaten their world, and there is no doubt that the Red Crescent logo drawn on the vaccinated people’s jackets has given them an additional sense of security and reassurance.
