TWO RUSSIAN NAVY VESSELS DOCK AT ALGIERS PORT FOR FIVE-DAY VISIT

ALGIERS, Two Russian navy ships, the missile cruiser “MARECHAL USTINOV” and anti-submarine ship “SEVERROMORSK-619,” have docked at the Port of Algiers for a five-day stopover, the Ministry of National Defence saiys.

“In implementation of the Algerian-Russian co-operation programme 2018, a detachment of Russian navy warships, made up of the missile cruiser MARECHAL USTINOV-0 55 and the anti-submarine ship SEVERROMORSK-619, docked Wednesday, 15 August 2018, in the port of Algiers for a five-day stopover,” it said in a statement here Thursday.

The commander of the Russian navy detachment paid a courtesy call on the head of the national Coast Guard Department.

“A wide and varied programme of cultural and sports activities has been drawn up for the crews of the Russian ships, including exchange of visits with the representatives of the Algerian naval forces,” the statement added.
