ALGIERS, — Algeria is hosting this week an international expert workshop of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (GCTF) on National plans for the prevention of violent extremism for the countries of the Sahel as well as the 4th plenary session of the Working Group on the Sahel of this forum.

Then forum is taking place from Sunday to Tuesday while the workship will be held from Monday to Wednesday. These two meetings are being co-chaired by Algeria and Canada, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The two meetings will bring together top officials and experts in the fields of prevention of and fighting terrorism and violent extremism, border security, law enforcement and the criminal justice systems of member countries of the GCTF Forum.

Countries from Africa’s Sahel region as well as members of the United Nations Security Council and international, regional and sub-regional organizations, including the United Nations (UN) and its institutions in charge of the fight against terrorism, the African Union (AU), the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT), the African Police Organization (AFRIPOL) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), are also takeingpart in the meetings.
