5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Xinjiang Northwest China

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Monday Atux city in Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

China’s News Agency quoted the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) as saying the quake struck at a depth of 19 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.

On April 13, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted the Rutog County in Ali Prefecture, southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region without causing human or material losses.

China usually suffers from earthquakes and strong tremors, especially in the mountainous areas in the west of the country.
