An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck on Monday the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 262 km east of Levuka, at a depth of 4,668 km.
So far, there have been no reports of material damage or human losses due to the earthquake.
On Feb. 23, an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook the Fiji Islands without causing significant damage.
The Fiji Islands are located in an area called the “Ring of Fire” in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed to many tremors and aftershocks that may be strong at times. (QNA)
