Algeria announced on Saturday the creation of National Agency for Water Desalination, with the aim of strengthening water production capabilities and providing water security.

According to Algerian press service, an executive decree establishing the agency said it will be tasked with the completion, exploitation and maintenance of water desalination plants and related facilities and equipment, and carrying out all works and operations that contribute to achieving this purpose.

The agency will also carry out studies and analyses concerning water desalination, and place the water produced from desalination plants at the disposal of the authorities in charge of water distribution.
